Introductory winter mountaineering course

Learn how to travel safely across snow-covered mountain terrain by yourself. Choose between a 1 or 2-day course.

Season: winter

Duration: 1 or 2 full days (approximately 6-8 hrs per day)

Level: medium (good physical shape; no previous mountaineering experience needed)

Day 1

Basic tools and equipment for winter mountaineering:

  1. Ice axes: classic and technical mountaineering ice axes
  2. Crampons
  3. Climbing ropes
  4. Slings, carabiners, etc.

Snow travel techniques:

  1. General introduction to walking in snow
  2. Boot techniques
  3. Boot and ice axe techniques
  4. Ice axe techniques
  5. Crampon techniques
  6. Self-arrest (stopping) techniques
  7. Body belaying
  • helmet, crampon and ice axe hire
  • use of safety equipment (ropes, bolts, cords, etc.)
  • qualified mountain guide
  • civil liability and accident insurance
  • transport to and from activity

Maximum group size: 6 per guide.

Prices from 80 € (1 day) and 180 € (2 days), depending on the number of people in the group.
