Hike through the spectacular Poqueira gorge in the Alpujarra, with its three scenic white villages perched on the hillside below Mulhacén, the highest mountain in mainland Spain.
Facing south towards the Mediterranean Sea and fed by high mountain streams, the landscape here enjoys a unique micro-climate all year round, which has been exploited to bring life to this area for hundreds of years.
We’ll take centuries-old paths between the villages, passing through cultivated orchards and terraces, shaded by natural vegetation including oaks, holm oaks and gall oaks. In the villages of Capileira, Bubión and Pampaneira we’ll see many examples of traditional Moorish architecture.
We offer two versions of this walk, depending on group requirements and preferences:
- Option 1: 5 km one-way walk from Capileira to Bubión to Pampaneira, with time to explore the villages
- Option 2: 10 km circular route exploring both sides of the river Poqueira, but with less time in the villages
Season: all year
Duration: 1 day (approx. 9am – 5pm)

* The price per person depends on the number of people in your party booking together, not the total size of the final group (which may include other bookings). The total group size will never be more than 14. For bookings of more than 6 people, ask for a personalised quote.
