Above the village of Monachil, and below the Sierra Nevada ski station, there is a peaceful area of idyllic farms and pasture land. This walk takes you past a disused hydropower station and a small farm in an incredibly pretty setting, and you’re likely to see lots of grazing cows and goats on your way around.

Monachil Valley

Level Fairly easy going with gentle ups and downs, and apart from the first section it is all on dirt roads. Navigation is reasonably straightforward as the circuit starts on the Cañada Real de los Neveros, a right-of-way marked with green posts, then follows the GR-240 Sulayr long-distance walking route for the next section, before returning on a dirt road.
